The 2008 FAI Underage League began on 13 September 2008 and was the inaugural Under-20 competition.

League Rules

Procedure

There are twenty six participating clubs in the 2008 Underage League; they are divided into four groups - seven teams in Pool 1 and Pool 2 and six teams in Pool 3 and Pool 4. All the teams will play each other home and away during the regular season. The top two teams in each group will then advance to the championship play-off quarter-finals.

Teams receive three points for a win and one point for a draw. No points are awarded for a loss. Teams are ranked by total points, then goal difference and then goals scored.

Cobh Ramblers U20 withdrew after Cobh Ramblers failed to get a license to participate in the 2009 League of Ireland.
